PUBG Adds Map Selection, Removes Erangel map
In a community announcement today, PUBG Corporation announced the long-awaited map selection feature, spending part of the announcement to explain why the process of designing the feature took so long. “Map selection is something that players all over the world have continuously asked for. We take your feedback extremely seriously, but we also want to be thoughtful about how we implement changes to PUBG, and we knew that map selection posed a couple of problems we needed to seriously consider.” The post goes on to read, “We wanted to make sure that adding this feature to the game wouldn’t adversely effect matchmaking times or change the play experience on either map. In order to achieve this, we’ve removed Erangel as well as the upcoming Savage map from the game.” A screenshot of the new main menu UI shows a map filter menu allowing you to select Miramar, PUBG’s desert-themed map—and nothing else. “Players will be able to select ‘All’ to play all available maps, or, map. They will also be able to select which specific map they would like to play—in this and all future instances, Miramar.” While this announcement was expected to get quite a reaction out of the community, the vast majority of public comments seemed to be verbatim: “Region Lock China.”
